Things to do in Piat, Cagayan Valley

Piat is a small town in Cagayan Valley. Located on the South-west part of Cagayan, Piat is known for the rich culture of Itawes people. With its 18 Barangays, it has an approximately 24,000 population (2015 Census.)

Aside from it’s people, Piat has something to offer to devotees and tourists.

1. Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Piat
 With the numbers of devotee and tourists visiting the church, Our Lady of Piat is among the most venerated Marian images of Mary in Philippines. The church itself is full of history and mystery according to people. Widely known for the beliefs of Miracles that Our Lady of Piat shown to devotees, people from different parts of the Philippines continue to visit and pray for their intentions especially during the celebration of feast every July 1-2 of the year.



2. Sambali Festival
 Celebrated every June 23-July 2 of the year, Sambali Festival is among what Cagayanos looking forward to. It is a celebration of religious and cultural revival for Itawes people in commemoration of Christianization. Colorful shows, novenas, street dancing and more cultural presentations awaits every attendee.

3. Mouth watering delicacies
Visiting Piat will never be complete without a taste of it’s famous Pawa and other native delicacies which are sold at stalls around the church. This ground sticky rice with peanut filling is pack around 9-10 pieces and can last for 3-5 days. It is sold at 25 pesos per pack or can even bid it to 20 per pack depending on the number of packs you’ll get.




4. Bukal ng Buhay
Featured in tv shows like Rated K and Jessica Soho, Bukal ng Buhay raised an interest to devotees and tourists in Cagayan and beyond. Allegedly, this spring gives miracles and blessings. This become a crowd drawer after devotees share their stories on how they would get over illnesses and more.

5. Souvenirs
Opps! don't forget to buy a  souvenirs. They are everywhere.

These were just few among things to look forward when in Piat. Just recently, the LGU also open a mini park just near the market. There are also number of carinderias within the location. I suggest Carmelas Pancit Cabagan if you are craving for pansit.
